This is the last issue of my newsletter.
Thank you for reading. In a way, I compete with your phone, YouTube, bills, and work emails for attention. Yet, with all those options and good and bad distractions, you subscribed to something I made. I deeply value your time which is why I added funny or relevant GIFs when I wrote about serious things like how to find a news angle without a PR agency or partner.
I’ll quickly share why this is the end in case it helps you.
This format where I write and it goes out to the world in a one-way street kind of way has always felt strange. It did not invite communication from readers, at least for me.
I don’t hear from you. Therefore, I am unsure what people want to learn from me. Even when I’ve asked for topics or suggestions, I have heard from five people out of 898. That low engagement prevented me from writing dozens and dozens of articles that could’ve shared a solution or a framework. Maybe the lesson there is to reach out to writers, artists, and online creators more than we do.
Looking back, maybe YouTube would’ve been a better channel for my personality, energy, strong opinions, and ideas. Plus, it’s easier to leave a YouTube comment than it is to contact a stranger we read words from online.
I’ll keep previous newsletters up until mid-June. If you want to chat, just reply to this newsletter. I’m easy to find online.
Thank you kindly,
John
