This edition is for my agency folks building websites. I know, a small percentage of my readers. But sometimes you must:
You designed or redesigned a brand site. Congrats. That’s a helluva win to celebrate!
So why do I, a PR guy, know about this?
I’ve created hundreds of media stories for advertising, production, creative, digital, experiential, design, and ecommerce agencies over the years. Many of them were client-focused and celebrated case studies
When it comes to media relations, you should know that reporters will not care about a new site launch unless your client is a mega name like Walmart, Allbirds, Bonobos, or Target. Don’t have your marketing department or PR agency pitch that story. It will not work.
It’s about the results months after launch that matter.
But don’t worry, there are things you can do to turn your client launch into a biz dev win.
Record your screen browsing the new site, then put it on social, particularly LinkedIn and Twitter. Do this with Loom, VidYard, Vimeo, xRecorder, TinyTake or other tools. A 5-second video goes a long way to have partners see your work. No editing necessary.
Know which ecommerce agency does this very well? Avex in NY.
Steal the following list of sites that could bring attention to site launches. The best part: you don't need a PR firm to help you.
